Presentation
It's possible to call Robert Brandy the "son of Supports/Surfaces" because of his collaboration with Vincent Bioulès who taught him some of the foundations to painting. Bioulès taught him how to make canvases by himself as well create his own colours. This, over time, has become a common practice in Brandy's art. Going beyond the teachings of l'Academie, Brandy has developed his own signature style, which while echoing elements of « Supports/Surfaces » is drawn mostly through himself.
Jean Portante
His oeuvre is divided into two distinct periods: the first between 1980 and 1996, and the second one from 1996 up to now. During these two periods however, he has produced works that correspond to his passion for automobiles. From 1994, he has worked under a double of himself, called Bolitho Blane who was born in 1896 in Hanover. This double allows him to discover more about himself, through the exploration of the past and its constant comparison to the present. The creation of this double is, in itself, a work of art as testified on canvas.

Gallery Bernard Ceysson, Luxembourg, presented from 11 September to 12 October 2008 an exhibition that included Robert Brandy recent works of the style characteristics of the artist, paints the most ancient to most of the seventies and eighties ; and singular works, collages, assemblages of objects, documents various boxes set up the archive a unique history as a mysterious character, a certain Bolhito Blaine, and now also unlikely that Arthur Cravan . Recent works are gathered around large-format paintings that Robert Brandy likes, but he did not have long time to show and surprise the audience of Luxembourg. These paintings bring to their full characteristics of the manner of Robert Brandy: Its very architectural compositions; collages that the artist is remarkably linked to the pictorial texture, its play of colors mannerist, Finally, it allows the use of natural pigments, ochres to rich and intense blue that evoke both the Lapi lazuli dear to the Italian painters of the Renaissance and granular powders of Anish Kapoor.
