Ce qui nous rassemble : langues, langages et imaginaires - La Gaîté Lyrique

October 02, 2024

From 2 to 6 October 2024

As part of the Festival de la Francophonie: Refaire le monde

Languages unite us, but sometimes their diversity divides us, and there are universal languages, including those of the arts and sciences. It's interesting to note that, with the avant-gardes of the last century, ideas began to predominate over images, sometimes to the point where words alone made works.

The exhibition is packed with works in a wide variety of forms, from both home and abroad, examining the use of language in the service of the imaginary. Methods of transmission, such as Morse code or radio, are not left out, with artists using adventurous practices that go so far as to focus on inter-species means of communication. There are also books, among other content and trends extracted from the Internet, not forgetting the essential role played by algorithms in contemporary creation. And what all the works in this exhibition have in common is that they can all be seen as gateways to our collective imagination, at the crossroads of art and knowledge.

Dominique Moulon is the guest curator. Dominique Moulon holds a doctorate in Arts and Sciences and is an expert in digital cultures. He is also an art critic and curator.

This exhibition is supported by the Canadian Embassy in France and Wallonie-Bruxelles International - service Francophonie & Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles/Paris as part of the Rencontres Archipel#Chaos-Monde.
